The 19-year-old has met the target on 42, 57, and 63 minutes and helped Schalke seal the three points with a thumping 4-0 victory following their dry spell.

Matthew Hoppe

,

Schalke

forward, is named the first American to have netted a hat-trick in the

Bundesliga

clash against Hoffenheim for his side to help them secure a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

Amine Harit has contributed the assists for all three of his goals, and he also scored the last goal on Saturday’s clash.

Hoppe’s first target meeting the net has helped him become the fourth American teenager that scored in the Bundesliga following Christian Pulisic, Josh Sargent, and Gio Reyna. Scoring a hat-trick saw he become the third American to meet the back of the net three times in one of the top five divisions of Europe. Since making the decision to join Schalke, which he considers a “no-brainer”, the teenager is pushing for greatness.

"

I was coming off of two really, really good seasons in America and I had my eyes set on Europe

,” Hoppe said. “

I got in contact with my agent from Bond MG, Bond Management and he got me the opportunity to do a trial at Schalke. I impressed Norbert [Elgert] and he wanted to bring me out so I came to Schalke.

“They're obviously one of the best teams in the Bundesliga so it was obviously a no-brainer decision to come out here so that I can compete.

"I think that the club fit me because I work hard. That's one of my best attributes I think."

Defeating

Hoffenheim

was Schalke’s first victory of the season as they were going on a winless run and they are aiming for stepping above the relegation zone. The Royal Blues are set to face Eintracht Frankfurt on January 17.
