Pochettino backs Mbappe to get back to his best form

Sat 09 January 2021 | 11:10

PSG boss has spoken about his team’s young star ahead of his first match at Park des Prince.

Kylian Mbappe

has not been in his best form for

PSG

lately. The French forward has scored 12 goals in his 14 Ligue 1 appearances for the club this season but there have been speculations over the player’s possible burn out in the recent weeks. The 22-year-old ended his one-year goal drought in the Champions League by a brace against Basaksehir last month. Ahead of his team’s Saturday match against Brest,

Pochettino

has spoken about Mbappe and his current form.

"It is a question about a special player,

"He came back in good shape after the break, with a very good state of mind.

"He is the top scorer in the championship. We hope that he will have fun and find the performance of which he is capable."

Asked about his return to Park des Prince, Pochettino responded:

"It's going to be a special night and a joy, yes, 20 years after wearing this jersey," he said.

"Unfortunately there will be no supporters, it's a shame and that will be missing.

"In any case, we talked about it among ourselves and with our families: we have the impression that we have been here for a year, whereas it's only been five or six days!"
