The Netherlands international has been pushing to become a regular in Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
is permitted to move fromManchester United
in this month’s transfer window.
The United defender made a move to United fromAjax
when he was 16 years old. In 2016, Fosu-Mensah had his debut in the clash againstArsenal
as a substitute, during which
netted a brace on his debut in the Premier League.
The Dutch defender, however, was not able to become a regular like Rashford, as he made only 29 appearances ever since. The 23-year-old has been sent off on loan toCrystal Palace
during the years and Manchester United are prepared to sign him a permanent deal if the offer is made.
I'm not sure if Timo is going to stay or [if] he's going to take an option now,
” Solskjaer said.
He's not played enough, so of course he's been allowed to speak to clubs, with a view to leaving now in January. It's difficult when you've got good players, talented players, and you can't give them game time. He's now at the stage where he needs to go and play again.
“It might be [at the] end of January, or it might be in the summer that he finds somewhere else. So, he's working hard, Tim, he's ready for a move for any club that he feels ready for.”
Fosu-Mensah’s contract is due to expire by the end of the campaign and he is not the only one who’s allowed to move from Manchester United while the Red Devils manager is trying to rebuild his team. Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo are also able to leave.
Odion Ighalo, whose loan is due to expire this month, is likely to leave as no discussions have been had regarding a deal renewal.
Amad Diallo, however, has joined the club from Atalanta this month on a £37 million ($50m) transfer fee.
