Zidane is confident that his French striker is not guilty and his name will be cleared.
Karim Benzema will have a trial because he is accused of being involved in an attempt for blackmail. The case has been open since 2015 and has caused many problems for Benzema but his head coach at Real Madrid is sure that he is innocent and his name will be cleared in the court of law.
If Benzema loses the case he could be facing five years in jail. The date for the trial has not been specified.
“Benzema has my complete support,” Zidane said on Friday. “I know it's not an easy situation. The important thing is what I see and he is well.
“These are difficult situations and we want it to be resolved as soon as possible. He detaches from all of that and focuses on his work, his family. He does what he likes and wants to make people happy when he is on the pitch.”
Benzema has been an important player for Real Madrid and facing this kind of problems outside the pitch could cost a player his entire reputation and career which is why the club should be concerned about what will happen to their French striker.
Benzema’s lawyer thinks that it was an absurd move to accuse a person like Karim Benzema of such things. He has insisted that his client has nothing to be ashamed of in this case.
