Sampdoria defeated Inter with two goals while Romelu Lukaku was absent.
has praised his player's attitude in the 2-1 victory overInter
. Ranieri also admits that the absence of Lukaku played a key part in their victory as two ex-Inter players scored the goals for Sampdoria. Keita Balde and Candreva both scored so Conte suffers another defeat this season.
“The guys had the right attitude, they suffered, they pressed until the end. We are really happy, we didn’t want to lose another game after the defeat in Rome,”
Ranieri told Sky Sport.
“Inter tried to win it. They are very dangerous in the final 30 minutes, they won so many games in the final minutes, this is an important win for us.
“Keita is an excellent guy, he still needs to improve, but he has proved to be a really good signing,”
Fabio Quagliarella is wanted by Juventus and he might join the Old Lady during the winter transfer window, however, Ranieri denies that this transfer speculation was the reason of Quagliarella sitting on the bench against Inter.
“He was about to come off the bench, but Keita told me he could continue to play and in the end I opted for [Antonino] La Gumina as I needed someone fresh who would run behind their players.”
Antonio Conte started Romelu Lukaku on the bench as the Belgian picked up a minor muscle injury last weekend. The former Manchester United star came off the bench in the second half.
“Having Lukaku out gave us a little help,”
“If he was on the pitch from the beginning we would have suffered more."
