Nuno wants Wolves to improve in defense

Wed 06 January 2021 | 11:22

Wolverhampton manager Nuno Espirito Santo has urged his side to improve defensively after a run of 10 games without a clean sheet.

Wolverhampton

have been struggling in defense so far this season and have failed to keep opponents Bay since Crystal Palace victory in October.

Nuno’s side were held to a disappointing 3-3 draw at

Brighton

– having led 3-1 at half-time.

And

Nuno

recognizes the need to put things right soon as he said: “

We are defending bad

.

“We are making mistakes that we shouldn’t make.

“We have to improve individually and as a team.

“It’s not normal. Look at this game for example, it didn’t work out.

“We entered back into our shape (five at the back) and we still concede.

“We have to improve and be much more aggressive, a bit more capable of dealing with individual situations. We have a long way to work.”

Joao Moutinho

gave away a penalty which saw Brighton pull one back through

Neal Maupay

before

Lewis Dunk

’s equalizer.

It was a costly mistake from the veteran midfielder, but Nuno insists everyone is responsible for this.

“I’m not disappointed with Joao, I’m disappointed with me, with everybody,”

he said

.

“We must do better. After the first half, we must do better as a team.

“I’m not disappointed in any way individually with any of our players, it’s about us.

“It’s about finding what’s happening because in the previous game we let a good game get away after a fantastic performance.

“Again, in the first half we do a fantastic job and the game goes away.

“We must look to ourselves and find the answers for it.”
