Cagliari manager Eusebio Di Francesco said he was interested in Radja Nainggolan and wanted him from the start of the season.
Nainggolan picked up six goals and provided six assists for the Rossoblu last season and helped them to their best start since 1969-70 when they claimed Scudetto.
Di Francesco was appointed as Cagliari manager last summer and admitted he needed Nainggolan, but Cagliari and Inter didn’t reach an agreement over a permanent contract.
“He’s a midfielder and he must think like that when attacking and defending,”
Di Francesco said at a press conference ahead of the match against newly-promoted Benevento
“Even if he doesn’t have the physical condition to play 90 minutes, he could start or enter from the bench. We’ll see.
“Radja is combative, he’s a player I wanted since the beginning of the season but I’m happy he has arrived now.
“I hope he brings his experience and personality to the dressing room.”
