Schalke 04 in dire need to strengthen their squad

Tue 05 January 2021 | 10:41

As per reports, Schalke 04 is eyeing free agent player Julian Korb and Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchell Weiser as they continue looking for a new right-back

After acquiring left-back Sead Kolasinac as a loanee from Arsenal,

Schalke 04

are currently hoping to reinforce the right side of their defensive line, as indicated by reports.

Bild claims 28-year-old Julian Korb has been distinguished as a potential choice. The previous Gladbach player has been without a club since he left Hannover 96 the previous summer.

As per Fussballtransfers, Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchell Weiser is another name on Schalke's rundown. The 26-year-old right-back can also play as a right-winger and he has been restricted to only five appearances for 'The Company's Eleven' this season.

Schalke are without a victory in their last 30

Bundesliga

fixtures and sits at bottom of the league table with only four points out of 14 matches this season.

In the wake of enduring an excruciating 3-0 thrashing to Hertha BSC in his first game in control a week ago, manager

Christian Gross

admitted they need new players, yet in addition, said he's mindful that the club's monetary battles are making the enrollment cycle troublesome.

"[Schalke sporting director] Jochen Schneider is trying to do the impossible. I very much hope that we succeed in signing a few players with personality, who don't need to be developed first," said Gross.
