Valencia on the verge of sacking Gracia

Mon 04 January 2021 | 18:49

Javi Gracia is on the brink of getting fired from Valencia, with the club already choosing a substitution.

Javi Gracia

has joined

Valencia

this summer and the club is sitting in 18th place in the elimination zone, having gained only 15 points in 16 matches. Should they win the clash against

Cadiz

on Monday, Gracia’s side will move out of the last three. Otherwise, the Valencia manager’s position will be in serious jeopardy.

The club officials have chosen Michel Gonzalez as a replacement, in case Gracia doesn’t deliver. In October, Gracia had a discussion with Anil Murthy, the club chairman, regarding why there were no signings for those transfer targets he requested, although eight players have left the club in the summer.

The 50-year-old’s contract is for two years and since Peter Lim has been in charge, Gracia is the seventh permanent manager.

The club’s financial crisis forces them to cut their wage budget 40 percent this season.
