Atalanta’s new full-back Joakim Maehle hopes to ‘develop as a player and as a person’ in Bergamo

KRC Genk announced in December 2020 that Mæhle signed for Atalanta on a five-year contract for 10 million euros.

In his first official interview in Italy, Maehle hopes his team will excel in both Italy and Europe.

I know it’s an amazing team in the top of Serie A,” he told the club’s official channel

. “

A passionate team who want to play attacking football, scoring a lot of goals.”

He was asked what he could bring to the Orobici and Maele characterized himself as a ‘dynamic' and versatile player.

I would say I’m a dynamic player, I always try to give my best for the team and for the fans

,” he said. “

I’m very attacking minded and I can play on both sides

.”

Mæhle continued that he hopes to see the return of supporters to the stadiums in 2021.

First of all, I hope we will soon see the supporters in the stadiums, of course

,” he said.

“Football without supporters is a different game

.

“I want to develop as a player and as a person. Hopefully I can learn to speak Italian soon, but I want to develop as a player, and I think this is the right step for me.

“I’m excited to start training and playing games, and to see what we can bring in this 2021."
