It's a pleasure to be here-Domenech after returning to football

Sat 02 January 2021 | 14:14

Newly appointed FC Nantes boss Raymond Domenech was all about the positive vibes as he held his first press conference

On December 2020, 10 years after last managing a team,

Raymond Domenech

signed with Ligue 1 side FC Nantes. That's why he is so happy to be back in coaching after a decade.

"

It's a pleasure to be here,

" stated Domenech, all smiles and visibly happy to be back in the saddle, having signed through to the end of the season.

"I'm happy, it's a real pleasure, I've been on the other side [as a consultant], so maybe I understand your [the media's] problems

better. I hope not to repeat my mistakes.

"

Domenech went on to talk about Nantes' bright future. Nantes is not doing well this season and is ranked 16th in the table.

"

I'm happy that Mr. Kita has given me this position

," he said, referring to club president Waldemar Kita, who selected Domenech for the position after the sacking of Christian Gourcuff. "

The first thing I want is to find pleasure again; it is to help the team be happy and joyful, so that it spreads to the club and the supporters

."

"The objective is to make people happy, to offer something coherent to this team. I'm always surprised when people say 'you have to be 10th, qualify for Europe or beat the drop'; first you have to agree on how to do things,"

insisted the man who coached OL from 1988 to 1993 in his

only other club coaching gig

. "I hope that we will bring everyone together by the way we play our football. I'm not worried. I want it to go well on the field and I want us to keep moving forward, with the players training well, in good spirits, enjoying themselves, with a lot of joy and drive."

Nantes will have their first match with Domenech on January 6 against Rennes.
