Darren Bent asks Wolves to sign free agent striker Diego Costa

Wed 30 December 2020 | 19:12

Wolves are looking for an option to strengthen their front after Raul Jimenez’s injury and this free agent has been selected for a Molineux move.

Darren Bent

advised wolves to make up for their lack of striker by signing

Diego Costa

.

He believes that Costa benefits several of the

Premier League

big clubs after he left

Atletico Madrid

.

Costa has only played in three games since mid-October all as a substitute and his departure from Atletico Madrid was confirmed yesterday.

“The striker asked to leave the club for personal reasons a few days ago and on Tuesday signed the termination of his contract,”

a club statement said.

This means that he is a free agent now and is one of

Nuno Espirito Santo

’s possible options regarding

Jiminez

's injury.

“Any of the top six potentially should now go for him especially now that his contract is ripped up so you have not to go to pay any money for him,”

Bent told.

“To have him, someone like that with Premier League experience in the building, still in good shape, can score goals. I’d bring him in, in a heartbeat.

“Spurs would take him, Wolves, even someone like

Everton

just on the off chance that something happens to

Calvert-Lewin

. He has still got something.

“You look at Spurs with Bale, he has not played for 18 months, nearly two years, so it’s the same kind of thing - they are paying a lot more money for him than you would have to pay for Diego Costa.”

They tried to make up Jiminez’s absence by giving chance to teenager

Fabio Silva

, whilst also deployed

Pedro Neto

and

Daniel Podence

in attacking positions.

Costa has been linked with Wolves before when Santo’s side were eager to sign him.
