Barcelona boss Koeman dodged punishment for his VAR criticism

Tue 29 December 2020 | 13:36

Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman has gotten away from disciplinary charges for condemning referees following his team's face-off in El Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou in October

Madrid won the match 3-1 with the key defining moment in the game seeing Los Blancos take a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the second half after Sergio Ramos was downed inside the penalty box.

Koeman

got away from punishment for his remarks after the match which hammered the utilization of VAR for deciding a penalty, yet Marca plots how this particular critique – as opposed to of the official themselves – is the reason the Dutchman was not rebuffed.

In the interim, Barca director

Xavier Vilajoana

has gotten a fine of €1,803 for direct criticism of official Martínez Munuera in his choice to grant the spot-kick.

Somewhere else, the Competition Committee of the Spanish FA has suspended Getafe striker Cucho Hernández for four games because of his criticisms on official Gil Manzano in the match against Granada.
