COVID-19 helped young players - Kahn

The presence of Hansi Flick changed the situation for the young players completely

Former goalkeeper and

Bayern Munich

board member Oliver Kahn believes that COVID-19 has helped young players a lot.

Bayern Munich is sometimes criticized for not playing young players in the first team. Some young players, such as Angelo Stiller, have refused to extend their contracts with Bayern for this reason. But the choice of Hansi Flick and his strategy changed everything, and the situation for the young players became much better.

Under the German coach, nine new players played for Bayern for the first time, and Oliver Kahn considers this to be a good thing because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He told Bild: “The chance for young players to show themselves at FC Bayern has rarely been greater than in these weeks and months. The number of games that players are playing is huge, which leads to the frequent rotation.”

"We can make up to five substitutions. That’s why we suddenly have Jamal Musiala, Chris Richards, Joshua Zirkzee, Bright Arrey-Mbi.”

Oliver Kahn also confirmed that Bayern Munich will not make any new signings in the winter transfer window.
