The Italian coach tops PSG's list for replacement of Tuchel.
Le Parisian claimed that Max Allegri was the primary option for Paris Saint-Germain to replace Thomas Tuchel.
sacked Thomas Tukhl last week, and no replacement has yet been officially announced. Rumor has it that Mauricio Pochettino has signed a contract with the Parisian club and will soon be introduced as the team's coach.
But Le Parisian reported that Pochettino was not the club's first choice to replace the German coach. In fact, PSG had planned to sign Max Allegri, who left Juventus in 2019, and Leonardo, the sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, wanted to hire the Italian coach to replace Tuchel. Still, his £10.8 million salary blocked the way.
PSG sacked Tuchel on Wednesday after the team's 4-0 win over Racing Strasbourg and four months after reaching the Champions League final. He did not live up to the club's expectations this season.
Allegri has not been hired by any club since 2019 when he left Juventus. He won five league titles with Juventus.
