coach in their miserable 2020-21 campaign. The 66-year-old participated in his first press conference for Schalke and was asked about the team’s controversial Algerian midfielder.

"No, he's not part of it."

’s last suspension in November, S04 Sporting director Jochen Schneider stated that Bentaleb and the administrative body of the club could not be reconciled. Bentaleb’s fall out with David Wagner turned him into a bench sitter before he was loaned out in the spring. In an earlier interview, famous German footballing voice Steffan Freund stated that Bentaleb’s disciplinary problems stem from his ethnicity but after being criticized, he immediately apologized for his comment. Schalke’s current form in the Bundesliga has put the club's officials in a situation where they have to act fast and precisely in order to avoid relegation. The club will terminate Vedad Ibisevic's contract on Thursday and are planning to sell Bentaleb to another team.
