Mon 28 December 2020 | 10:35

Former All Whites striker has returned to Australia after SuperSport United's interest in him was cooled off.

Jeremy Brockie

left the South African club

Mamelodi Sundowns

in the middle of the year and was initially linked with his former club SuperSport United. However, the player returned to Australia after it became evident that he was not wanted at Pretoria. The 33-year-old achieved five trophies in the span of his five-year period in South Africa but struggled with lack of game time

in the past two seasons

. His loan move to

Maritzburg

didn’t help and the player was able to score only one goal in his twelve appearances for the club. Brockie and his wife relocated to Australia hoping that he would get an A-League offer but

Bentleigh Greens

who are currently playing in the Victorian Premier League was able to sign him on Christmas day.

“Brockie comes to Bentleigh on the back of a very successful stint in South Africa with SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns & Maritzburg United,''

the club said.

“Brockie has also represented Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and North Queensland Fury in the A-League.

“We look forward to seeing Jeremy at Kingston Heath in 2021.’’
