Modric will become one of the oldest players in Real history at the end of his current contract.

By extending his contract, Luka Modric has joined the ranks of great players who played for

Real Madrid

until they were very old.

Marca reports that Modric will be 36 years, nine months and 21 days old when his contract expires on June 30, 2022, making him the seventh-oldest player in the club's history and the fourth oldest outfield player.

Modric has always said that his dream is to retire at the Santiago Bernabeu, something that may require another contract extension. The Croatian midfielder wants to represent his country's national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Qatar World Cup will start in November 2022 which is the season after Modri's current deal will run out. Even if Modric leaves Real for this purpose, he will still have an outstanding achievement.

The oldest player to play for Real Madrid is Ferenc Puskas, who last played 39 years, one month and six days. After him, is Paco Boyo, who last played for Real at 38 years, two months and three days. Jerzy Dudak retired at the age of 38 years, one month and 24 years. Alfredo Di Stéfano is in fourth place, retiring at 37 years, ten months and 23 days.
