The Switzerland international pulled off an impressive performance against Chelsea on Saturday.

Granit Xhaka

has not been in his best form for

Arsenal

recently but managed to redeem in the Gunners crucial Boxing Day derby against

Chelsea

. Returning from suspension, Xhaka scored a thumping free-kick in the first half which put Arsenal 2-0 ahead before the half time. In the second half, Saka managed to score the third goal for Arsenal and Tammy Abraham’s 85th-minute goal was not enough for Chelsea to escape defeat in Emirates. In a post-match interview,

Mikel Arteta

has spoken about the player and his performance.

"Since I've been here he has always shown that. That's why I've been really supportive of him.

"He made a mistake, like we all do, but his commitment and his character and how much he wants to fight for this club and this team is unquestionable, and today I feel he showed that again."

Xhaka’s goal was his first goal for Arsenal this season and the 28-year-old engaged in more duels than any other Arsenal player in the match. The player expressed his feelings about the Derby in an Instagram post which was posted after the match.

"Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Proud of our team tonight."
