Sun 27 December 2020 | 7:57

Arsenal 23-year-old defender believes the victory against Chelsea can be a turning point for them.

Arsenal

did not have a good start to the season and were struggling to get a win in recent weeks.

But last night, the Gunners managed to defeat

Chelsea

3-1 to make their situation in the table slightly better and get further away from the relegation area.

Arsenal Scottish defender,

Kieran Tierney

has praised his teammates, saying this victory can be a new start for them.

In an interview with

Sky Sports

, Tierney said:

“It is a start. We needed that today.

“We needed to give the fans something to be positive about. We have had a few bad results this season so it is a start.

“We started better. We did not wait until we went 1-0 down to start playing and creating chances.

“We started on the front foot. That has been the message the last few weeks in training.

"It is a start and something to build on. We wanted to get that win, to get three points and slowly but surely climb up that table.

"Chelsea are a good team, they are higher up the table than us, so to come out with three points is important.”

With 17 points out of 15 matches,

Arsenal

are now 14

th

in the

Premier League

table.
