‘He is not a lawyer’ Pirlo slammed by Napoli chief De Laurentiis
Juventus boss has been criticized by Napoli chief after his comments about the overturned match forfeit.
Napoli
didn’t travel to Turin for their October game against
Juventusas they claimed that the team were banned from traveling by local health authorities. At that time Piotr Zielinski, Eljif Elmas, and a member of Napoli staff were tested positive for Covid-19 and Juventus had also reported two positive cases the day before the match. Napoli’s absence was ruled as a match forfeit by the Italian Football Federation and announced a 3-0 victory for
Andrea Pirlo
’s team. However, Napoli took the case to the Italian National Olympic Committee and they overturned the previous decision in Napoli’s favor. The committee decided that a rescheduled match will take place in 2021 and no points will be docked from the Napoli as a result of their absence. Pirlo criticized the committee’s decision earlier this week:
"I'm sorry for the other teams who have travelled and lost points without saying anything, leaving and playing without those who had Covid-19. I'm more sorry for them than for us."
Napoli’s president
Aurelio De Laurentiis
has reacted to Pirlo’s comment by stating that the young coach must stick to his job instead of commenting on legal cases.
"Pirlo is not a lawyer by trade, he does not know certain procedures and does not know what has happened in terms of protocols," De Laurentiis told Radio Capital.
"Pirlo should be a coach and that's it, leave certain answers to his club representatives."
