Sources confirm that Kovalenko has signed contract with Atlanta
Atlanta hopes that his addition to the club will balance the departure of Gomez.
As
Viktor Kovalenko's contract with the Ukrainian side ends in June 2021, a new contract according to the sources has been signed with
Atlanta.
The 24-year-old has managed to establish himself as one of the key members of
Shakhtar Donetsk. During his time in the club, Shakhtar gained four Ukrainian cups, two Ukrainian Super Cups, and four Ukrainian championships.
The midfielder has played eight league matches and three champions league games this season and has scored four goals.
Kovalenko started playing in Ukraine's senior national team in 2016.
He will make the second additional player to Atlanta as this team has signed
Joakim Maehle
from Genk.
It is hoped that these signings could get the team balanced after the departure of
Alejandro Gomez.
Due to the refusal to change positions in the Champions League, he was declined to play in the club's two straight matches
Gomez has been a good help to the club but has now requested to move to AC Milan or Inter.
In the Serie A table, The two Milan teams are placed in the first and second stages.
