Emery on Real loanee: ‘He is given a match and he must earn more'

Villarreal boss, Unai Emery responds to criticisms about not giving Kubo enough time to play.

Takefusa Kubo

, the Japanese phenomenon of

Real Madrid

, is on loan at

Villarreal

this season, but due to his not so good conditions in the team, there are rumors that Kubo will return to Real Madrid in January.

Real Madrid are unhappy that Kubo is not getting enough playing time and they blame Villarreal boss,

Unai Emery

for it. But Emery reacted to these criticisms, saying Kubo will only play if he proves his worth.

Last year, Kubo, who was one of Real Madrid's great discoveries, signed a five-year contract with Los Blancos.

The 19-year-old prodigy spent last season on loan at

RCD Mallorca

and was loaned out to

Villarreal

this season to gain more experience.

"We are not here to give a player 10 games in a row if he doesn’t perform,"

Emery said.

"He is given a match and he must earn more. It is valid for the young players and for everyone. There is a requirement here and that is to win."
