Biraghi: ‘I know Chiesa well’

Tue 22 December 2020 | 23:36

Cristiano Biraghi reveals he knew the weakness of his former Fiorentina teammate Federico Chiesa and he used it to hurt him in Fiorentina 3-0 victory over Juventus.

Juan Cuadrado

was sent off the pitch in the 17th minute, but

Dusan Vlahovic

stunned the Turin side by giving his side the lead early game, and

Biraghi’

cross was turned in by

Alex Sandro

before he assisted

Martin Caceres

to extend the lead to three for the visitors.

“We expected a good performance here, but did we expect to win 3-0? You need the perfect match in Turin for the victory and that’s what we did tonight,”

Biraghi told Sky Sport Italia

.

Many of the Fiorentina attacks were planned by Biraghi, up against his old teammate Chiesa.

“I know Chiesa well, he has this incredible change of pace that can cause big problems. However, seeing as I do know him very well, I also realize he doesn’t like to be attacked and he struggles to track back and defend.

“Therefore, I tried to attack him and it worked well.”
