Gotti says Udinese only lacked a goal against Crotone

Udinese manager Luca Gotti believes they did everything against Crotone but they failed to score a goal which isn’t a small detail in football.

’s three consecutive wins with a goalless draw at the Dacia Arena.

“We were only lacking a goal, which admittedly isn’t a small detail in football, but you can’t say we didn’t try,” Gotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had two goals ruled offside, it’s a pity. My idea of football is to take the initiative and control the game. We are improving our passing, and what I care about is not so much possession as the quality of possession to create chances.

“Crotone played their game, we tried to win, and I thought it’d be too risky to pack the team with strikers and leave large spaces for them to counter.”

Rodrigo De Paul continued to the final whistle despite having a knee problem.

“He told me it wasn’t serious, it was just a knock.”

Gotti was asked what he’d do if the club sold De Paul in January.

“I’d say it was disappointing, but I work for Udinese, I don’t own the club.”
