Liverpool pay a tribute to the late Houllier

The Reds shared a message on Twitter following the death of their former title-winning manager.

Liverpool

paid a tribute to

Gerard Houllier

after his death at the age of 73. The Frenchman was in Charge of the Reds for six years and during their 2001 season he was able to win three titles with the Premier League club. Among others clubs, which he managed, are

Paris Saint-Germain

,

Aston Villa

, and

Lyon

.

“We are mourning the passing of our treble-winning manager, Gerard Houllier,”

Liverpool wrote on Twitter.

“The thoughts of everyone at Liverpool Football Club are with Gerard’s family and many friends. Rest in peace, Gerard Houllier 1947-2020.”

After his departure from the world of coaching in 2011, Houllier worked as the head of global football for the Red Bull group. During his time with Liverpool, Houllier was diagnosed with heart complications, which forced him to an immediate surgery at that time.
