Petagna: ‘thanks to my parents I am still here’

Petagna revealed that he “thought about quitting” after he left Milan and it was only because of his parents that he kept going.

Andrea Petagna

has said that he owes his success to his parents as he “thought about quitting” after he left Milan but they were the reason he kept going.

Petagna scored the winner for

Napoli

in the 2-1 win over

Sampdoria

on Sunday.

“It’s a nice day for me, I want to thank everyone, especially my parents,” he said.

“If I am still playing football I owe it to them, I didn’t live nice moments in the past. It was not an easy game today, we had played a tough game on Thursday.

“I joined Sampdoria and I went to Serie B after I left Milan. There were difficult moments and I thought about quitting, but thanks to my parents I am still here.”

The Italian striker hugged

Gattuso

after he scored the winner.

“He told me I would score before the game. I am improving thanks to him, I play in a different way.

“We miss [Victor] Osimhen, he is really important for us but I am trying to play my cards right, I must continue to work like this.

“We must always give everything when we come off the bench, otherwise the coach will tear us to shreds inside the dressing room. That’s what is making us improve during trainings.”
