Sun 13 December 2020 | 16:21

The young defender of Chelsea finds it hard to compete with experienced Thiago Silva.

Fikayo Tomori

joined Chelsea’s academy back in 2005. He became known to the

Chelsea

fans in his loan spell in Derby County under the management of Frank Lampard. He performed well there and was a key player during their effort to promote to the Premier League.

Tomori and

Lampard

with Mason Mount as well spent a good year in Derby even though they could not successfully reach the Premier League. However, Lampard joined Chelsea next year and both of the youngsters and other Chelsea’s youth got their chance in Lampard’s first season.

Tomori looked like a trustworthy defender in his first year at Stamford Bridge but Lampard decided to add a few defenders to his team. The arrival of Thiago Silva and the improvement of Zouma made it hard for the likes of Tomori to find a regular place in the squad.

Reports now suggest that Chelsea are considering possible loan moves for the young defender.

Rennes

in France and

Newcastle United

in Premier League are reported to be the possible destination for Fikayo Tomori.
