Former Inter and Roma star, Douglas Maicon is going back to Italy to play in Serie D side Sona. Intermediary Thiago Sousa said "It’s 100 percent done."

The Brazilian star will turn 40 in July, but hasn’t pulled aside yet and is playing in Brazil for Villa Nova Atletico Clube for now.

There had been negotiations going on for a while.

The transfer window is available in Serie D on January 7 and

Douglas Maicon

isn’t the only one joining

Sona

, as his 15-year-old son Felipe will join for the youth team.

“The deal is done, but he won’t fly in for another three weeks or so,”

coach Marco Tommasoni told.

“I think this will boost enthusiasm for all the staff and players, but we still have to evaluate his fitness levels. His CV speaks for itself and he brings both experience and character.”

Maicon

has not performed in Italy since his Roma deal ended in July 2016.

The 39-year-old right-back was in the Treble-winning Inter team of 2009-10, winning the Serie A title on four openings, the Coppa Italia twice, the Italian Supercup three times, and the Club World Cup once.
