Wenger: Ozil is an artist

Former Gunners boss has stated that the German midfielder is a sensitive player but can be integrated into the team.

Arsene Wenger

convinced

Mesut Ozil

to join

Arsenal

from Real Madrid with a £43 million deal in the summer of 2013. Ozil was one of the best attacking midfielders of Europe at the time and soon developed himself into a key player for Arsenal thanks to his exceptional passing abilities. Ozil’s situation at Emirates changed by Wenger’s departure from the club and by the arrival of Mikel Arteta the player's place in the team has gone even worse. The 32-year-old has not been included in the team’s squad for Europa League and

Premier League

and his time at Arsenal seems to be reaching an end. In a recent interview with

ESPN

, Wenger has spoken about Ozil’s special qualities as a player.

"He was not difficult to manage. He was a guy who had a special quality as a creative player and needed to have fun,

"He is an artist and these guys are a bit more sensitive.

"They need support and an environment that pushes them to give their best."

Wenger advised Arteta on how to use Ozil in his team.

"You have two ways to see a football team. You get everybody to do the same. The same intensity of work, the same defensive work or you find a compromise,

"You have a more creative player in the team who can do less defensive work but you build a team around him who can compensate for these deficiencies.

"That is what you have to think about."
