Ulsan face Vissel Kobe to make way to Asian Champions League final
Ulsan Hyundai will take on Japan’s Vissel Kobe on Sunday so that one will be in the Asian Champions League final, after the two teams won Beijing Guoan and Suwon Bluewings in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Junior Negrao scored both goals which earned 2012 champions
Ulsan
a 2-0 win over Beijing while
Kobe
had a 7-6 penalty shootout victory to get over Suwon.
The prize is a place in the final on December 19, when the semi-final winners face Iran’s Persepolis.
With former Spain midfielder, Andres Iniesta starting on the bench for
Kobe
, Park Sang-hyeok scored first for Suwon.
Five minutes before the break, they drew after referee Adham Makhadmeh spoke with the Video Assistant Referee.
Kobe
began the penalty, the referee awarded a free kick outside the area and suspended Kim Tae-hwan for a foul on Daigo Nishi.
Both teams hit the woodwork in extra time before the penalties.
Ulsan
advanced due to an exciting first-half display, with Negrao opening the scoring from the penalty spot.
The Brazilian increased his team’s advantage in impressive fashion with a 25-yard kick that escaped the goalkeeper Hou Sen’s dive.
Ulsan
kept the Chinese team at bay to proceed to the semis for the first time since getting the title eight years ago.
