Jurgen Klopp admits his ideas about VAR are changing after Liverpool’s draw in the Champions League.

The German manager has said that he was once an advocate of VAR, but now he has changed his mind about it after another controversial game in the Champions League.

Salah

scored in the match’s first minute and

Alexander Scholz

scored from the penalty spot to equalize for the home side. The game ended in a tie, however, both teams had goals ruled out by VAR.

Klopp was asked about VAR in the post-match press conference, he admitted that once he was a supporter of bringing technology into the sport but now he has changed his mind.

“It just took too long,” he said. “I didn’t see it back, if they were right or if they were difficult [decisions] to make, but it took three or four minutes, and in the cold for the boys, it’s really hard.

“I can already hear people saying, ‘my God, is he talking about that again?’ but it took a really long time and it was really cold. That doesn’t help!

“I used to be one of the people who said, ‘yes, VAR is a good idea’ but I’m really not sure if I would say that again, to be honest. Now we have it, and now we have to deal with it.”
