Bergomi: ‘Eriksen is not a champion’

Mon 07 December 2020 | 11:02

Beppe Bergomi believes Eriksen could have been the reason for losing the Serie A title last season.

Former

Inter

defender

Beppe Bergomi

believes Inter could have lost the

Serie A

title last season just because of

Christian Eriksen

as they have been helping him to settle in.

Eriksen joined the Nerazzurri in January 2020. He was transferred from Tottenham and there have been rumors that he will possibly leave Inter in the winter transfer window because of not getting game time.

“Eriksen is a tricky talking point for me,” Bergomi said.

“I’ve always thought he is not a champion, he is a good player who is not suitable for Serie A and Antonio Conte's football.”

Conte has sent Eriksen onto the pitch in the last five minutes of the games against Real Madrid and Bologna last week.

“I don’t want to speak about this, I don’t know the situation,” Bergomi added.

“I know Inter have lost time, and maybe even a Serie A title, trying to help Eriksen to settle in. Conte threw in an attacking midfielder and lost something from [Lautaro] Martinez. He stopped after a while and returned to a 3-5-2 system.”
