Former Liverpool striker believes that contract extension with Liverpool is a better option for Wijnaldum than joining Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Georginio Wijnaldum

was heavily linked with

Barcelona

during the summer transfer window.

Ronald Koeman

spoke about the player in public and expressed his desire to have him on his Blaugrana squad. The Dutch midfielder’s contract will be expired at the end of the season and there has been no agreement between the player and his current club. In an interview with Amazon Prime Sport, former Reds striker

Peter Crouch

has spoken about Wijnaldum’s future and his possible move to Spain.

“You look at Barcelona and Real Madrid and they're the Holy Grail for some teams but sometimes it doesn't work out. Liverpool are a better option than them.”

Jurgen Klopp

is also keen to see Wijnaldum extend his contract.

“I hope [that he signs], to be honest.

“You can see that, he plays all the time. We have a pretty good relationship. I hope so.”

When asked about his contract negotiations with the club, Wijnaldum didn’t reveal any new information.

“I already said it in my previous interviews, I don’t speak about my contract situation.

“I speak about the games. The club should speak about my contract.”
