Chelsea made a move to sign Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso this summer, before the Edouard Mendy deal.

After observing Kepa Arrizabalaga try for form, it was obvious the Blues decided to sign a replacement for the Spanish player.

Some names were on the shortlist as

Chelsea

completed a £22m contract for the Rennes man in September.

The 28-year-old had nine clean sheets in 12 trips since joining Stamford Bridge. Petr Cech explains why they targeted Mendy.

As claimed, Musso was one option Cech had on his list of goalkeepers. reportedly,

Chelsea

keep being interested too with Udinese willing to lose the Argentine goaler.

Musso value is reckoned at around £30m. They said he will "

probably be sold at the end of the season

". They also said

Chelsea

have "

tested the waters

" over a likely January deal.

Any contract for Musso means Kepa would probably be sold.

The Spaniard is ready to get a notable pay cut to ensure a loan move in January.

With the delayed Euro 2020 scheduled for this summer, Kepa understands he has to play to defend his place.

Because returning to LaLiga seems like the best option for the 26-year-old, he is ready to reduce his £150,000-per-week salary and open to a loan move away in January.
