Wolves coach: 'I'm really happy to see the fans back in stadium'

Nuno Espirito Santo trusts Wolves will savor playing before the spectators in Anfield unexpectedly since March.

Wolverhampton

faces Liverpool on Sunday with the defending champion ready to welcome back 2,000 fans.

Anfield will have fans for the first time since their Champions League quarter-final thrashing to Atletico Madrid in March, not long before sport was stopped in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency.

Liverpool

is in the Government announced level two – permitting them to have fans – while Wolverhampton stays in level three, denying Wanderers the opportunity to have supporters at Molineux, yet Nuno assumes that his players should be happy to see The Reds fans.

“I am happy, really happy. We want fans back and on Sunday there will be 2,000 of them, even though they are not Wolves fans, they are football fans and this is what the game needs. It needs the fans back in the stadium." he said.

“Honestly, I think it is only positive energy for all the players involved on the pitch. There will be 2,000 and it will be 2,000 with lots of positive energy. Hopefully soon there will be 14,000 or 15,000 with lots of positive energy.

“What players enjoy is to play in front of fans. This is why they work and how they enjoy. Having no fans doesn’t make sense. I am so happy they are returning step by step.

“Hopefully when it is reviewed on the 16th, then we can go to Molineux in front of our own fans.”

Wolves are without Raul Jimenez as the forward started his recuperation from a procedure on his cracked skull following a bang of heads with David Luiz in last Sunday's 2-1 victory at Emirate stadium.

The £35million Fabio Silva could swap him for his

Premier League

debut since moving from Porto in the mid-year.

Nuno said:

“It’s a chance for all the squad, knowing we don’t have someone who is really important for us. I don’t recall a game when Raul was not in the team.

“It’s a chance for us all to raise our standards and create solutions for the team.”
