Zidane: ‘We're not going to take any chances with Sergio Ramos’

Sergio Ramos has been left of the squad for the game against Sevilla as he has been suffering from a hamstring injury in November and was not fully fit for the match.

Real Madrid

captain

Sergio Ramos

is not in the team’s squad for the

La Liga

game against

Sevilla

today.

He has been suffering from a hamstring injury since his international duty with Spain in November.

Although he has returned to the training sessions, Madrid head coach

Zinedine Zidane

said that they would only take Ramos if he was fully ready for the game.

"We're not going to take any chances with Sergio Ramos," Zidane said.

"I don't want to play a player who has a problem and then he makes it worse. We want all the players back".

With Ramos being away, Real Madrid drew 1-1 against Villarreal and lost 2-1 to Deportivo Alaves in league action.

In the

Champions League

, Real Madrid won 2-0 against Inter and lost 0-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk and therefore they balanced their progression in the knockout stages.

Real Madrid are fourth in the La Liga table with 17 points. They are seven points behind the leaders Real Sociedad.

Although Zidane has been under pressure since their struggles in the league and Champions League, he insisted he does not have any intention of resigning.

“I am not going to resign – not at all," Zidane said.

“We have always had delicate moments. It is true that it is a bad streak in terms of results, but we must continue. Today was a final, we prepared very well, but we know there is a game to go and we have to win and that's it."
