Zidane sacking would be a hasty decision - Sanchez

The Mexican legend does not agree with the dismissal of the French coach.

Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez believes that dismissing Zidane at this time would be a hasty decision.

The defending La Liga champions did not perform well in the 2020-20 season and had poor results. This instability can be seen in domestic and European competitions, and Zidane's side achieved good results only at the end of last season. The Whites have lost 13 points in 10 games this season, and now their promotion from the group stage of the Champions League is also unknown. Following the 2-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, there was talk of Zidane being sacked, and it is said that the results of the next few games will determine his future in Madrid. However, the Mexican myth opposes Zidane's dismissal at this point.

Asked about whether Zidane should be sacked, Sanchez replied:

“No, I don't think so yet; it would be very hasty right now.

“You have to wait until after the remaining [Champions League group] game, which is complicated by being dependent on others.

“There will be a certain pressure, nervousness and obviously waiting for the result against Borussia Monchengladbach, too.”

He added:

“There have been serious criticisms of Zidane.

“He is bearing it stoically, but I note his nervousness because his players aren't rising to the expectations placed upon Real Madrid players.”
