Chelsea boss admits that he is impressed by Giroud’s quality after he scored four goals against Sevilla.

Olivier Giroud

’s place in

’s starting XI has been affected by the club’s new signings as the French striker has been down the pecking order in the forward position after Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner. The 34-year-old is yet to start his first

Premier League

match for Chelsea this season but after his spectacular performance against

on Wednesday the team’s coach has admitted that he will consider Giroud as a choice for Chelsea’s Saturday match against Leeds United. In a post-match interview with BT Sport,

Frank Lampard

has spoken about Giroud’s form and his contribution to the team. When asked whether the French striker made a good claim for a place in the starting XI, Lampard responded:

"Yeah, he does. I'll have to see because it is a tight turnaround but it's four goals in a game.

"It's not just his own performance but when you play Ollie and you utilise his strengths and still maintain threats from the side with speed and quality play from the middle of the park, then you see a real nice balance about our attacking play.

"It's not easy scoring four but again he's done it on this level against a really top opponent. His input into the goals was really top class."

Chelsea will try to continue their record of 12 consecutive unbeaten matches in their Saturday battle against

before returning to the Champions League to play against Krasnodar three days later.
