Giroud: Let me enjoy the night, We will see Lampard's decision later

Wed 02 December 2020 | 23:36

The Blues striker made a spectacular statement by scoring four goals against Sevilla in the Champions League.

Olivier Giroud

’s place in Chelsea’s squad has been affected by the club’s new signings as the French striker has often been left behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham for the starting squad.

But

Frank Lampard

might now have the perfect reason to increase the player’s game time as he managed to score 4 goals in Chelsea’s Wednesday

Champions League

victory against

Sevilla

. The last player who has been able to score four goals in a single match for Chelsea is the team’s coach Frank Lampard.

In a post-match interview with BT Sport, Giroud has spoken about his record-breaking performance but also noted that he prefers to not think about his place in

Chelsea

’s squad for now.

"Let me enjoy the night and that great win,

and after that we will rest and we will see what the gaffer's plan is.

"When you win 4-0 in a Champions League away game it's always a great feeling and a good performance from the team. We took the game from the front foot and we were efficient up front, especially for me because I scored four goals.

"I didn't know until two years ago that you called it a perfect hat-trick, when I scored against Kiev in Europa League I said, 'What do you mean?' It was good, I had good assists though.

"I will try to carry on like that to finish the good job of the team and it's always nice to be in the club history and we play football to mark our history, so I'm pleased to help the team to win and to score the four goals."
