Wed 02 December 2020 | 19:51

Italian giants Juventus are interested in signing Arsenal’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos next month.

Juve

’s captain, Giorgio Chiellini, experienced a thigh injury in training this week. Manager

Andrea Pirlo

is beginning to worry about his choices at the back.

Merih Demiral is also sidelined, which has left

Juve

with just Matthijs de Ligt and Leonardo Bonucci prepared in the center.

Pirlo

has a list that wants to sign a central defender next month.

David Alaba and Jerome Boateng are on his list, but Bayern are won't let either of them leave mid-season. Samuel Umtiti currently being injured but still is an option.

Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is another option with £36 million but

Juventus

can’t currently afford that.

That leaves Sokratis. Unai Emery signed the Greece international for £17.7 million in 2018. However, it looks as though his Arsenal career is over.

Sokratis’s highly experienced and knows Italy just fine playing at Genoa and AC Milan.

The 32-year-old has seven months of his deal at Arsenal.

Getting out of Sokratis’ £92,000-a-week salary would make it easier on Arsenal’s finances.
