Barcelona's presidential candidate has re-established his independence-seeking schemes for Catalonia by claiming Camp Nou shouldn’t be used by the Spanish national team.

Former

Catalonia’s

Parliament member,

Juan Laporta

, was

Barcelona’s

president between 2003 and 2010, where he developed Barcelona to one of the greatest club teams alongside

Pep Guardiola

.

As reported by

Marca

, the 58-year-old told reporters when asked about the

Spanish national team

playing at the home of the

Blaugrana

:

“Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, is an intelligent person who knows that the best thing for the national team is to play where they have more support, such as Seville, Valencia , Madrid…and perhaps here is not the most appropriate place.

“For the Spanish team not to play at the Camp Nou is the best decision because the situation does not meet the most positive conditions for them to do so.”

According to his campaign website,

“management must therefore pursue, in addition to sporting and economic results, social and human results,”

and Laporta’s model for

Barcelona presidential

is

“based on the values of the Masia, on sporting ambition, on economic responsibility and on the projection of Barça from Catalonia to the world.”
