The German coach has been planning to buy Jota for three years.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he has decided to sign Diogo Jota after watching him play one game for Wolverhampton.
The Portuguese star joined Atletico Madrid in 2016 and went to Porto on loan for one season. Next season he joined Wolverhampton on loan, and after a stellar career with the team, the 2018-19 season was transferred from Atletico to Wolverhampton. He continued to shine among the Wolves until he finally joined Liverpool in the summer and has had some brilliant performances for the team.
The Reds have benefited a lot from his readiness this season, and now the club has confirmed that they decided to buy him after watching just one game from him with the Wolves.
He told Uefa official website:
“Diogo, I liked, honestly, from the first game I saw him playing for Wolves. That's how it is.
“He had no idea about that, obviously, but for me it was always clear that when he was kind of in reach, I would go for him because he's very, very interesting and had an exciting career so far: what he did, where he's come from, the moves he made, bam bam bam.
“I liked the discipline he showed, plus the creativity he showed, plus the desire he showed. And his skills are pretty good anyway, so I got a lot of good signs before we signed him that it could work out.”
