Arteta concerned about Aubameyang

Mon 30 November 2020 | 10:52

Aubameyang has not scored an open goal in Premier League since the first game of the season against Fulham.

Arsenal

’s bad start this season is being continued after they suffered a home defeat against

Wolverhampton

on Sunday night. Defensively they’ve been good this season but against Wolves they were also shaky at defense.

Attacking-wise, the Gunners are less than impressive as there is no creative work in the squad. It almost feels like Arsenal fans are witnessing the same scenario every week. One of these scenarios is

Aubameyang

not being able to score.

Last time he scored in an open play in Premier League was the starter game of the season against Fulham which they won by 3 goals. Against Wolves, Aubameyang had 9 touches in the penalty area and 5 shots which only one was on target.

Mikel Arteta

, Arsenal’s Spanish coach who is under a lot of pressure has insisted that Aubemayng’s scoring problem is very concerning for him.

"How important Auba has been for this club in the last two years and how the goal sheet has been shared among the squad tells you his importance.

"He needs to be scoring goals if we want to be successful."

Aubameyang's two goals and one assist is a meager return, given he has started every game, with his minutes-per-goal average declining from one every 142.64 last season to a dismal one every 448.5 this term.
