Muguna: ‘We have to focus ahead on the return leg’

Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna believes they have learned from their mistakes and now are focused on the next match.

Charles Momanyi scored the only goal for God Mahia. For the other side, Niyonzima Seif scored one and Andrew Juma scored an own goal.

“The match in Kigali is now a past chapter,” Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna said after the game against APR Rwanda.

"We have to focus ahead on the return leg and stop talking about a match that’s already played. We recognize our mistakes and we know what to do in the return leg.”

Philemon Otieno, who has been in the sidelines for a long time and is trying to get back to competitive football, continued:

"The team spirit is high and the away goal will motivate us.”

"We expect to give our very best in the return leg at home. We know if we win that match, it will give us a good platform to start off the season on a high.”

In the game against APR Rwanda, Boniface Oluoch made an important save to keep the score at 0-0, but three minutes later Seif changed the score for APR.

Momanyi scored the equalizer in the 27th minute and since then, Gor Mahia looked more stable and started to deal with the attacks from APR better.

In the 63rd minute, Gor Mahia went behind again with Juma scoring an own goal.

Gor Mahia made multiple changes during the game but they did not pay off as a goal and in the end, they lost the game to APR.
