Buenos Aires police have raided the home and clinic of Diego Maradona’s doctor as part of the investigation to his death.
insists that he is innocent and has “nothing to hide” over the treatment procedures to the late football legend.
Leopoldo Luque’s home and clinic has been being investigated for involuntary murder after the death of Argentinean legend due to heart attack at his home, where he was recovering after successful surgery to remove blood clot.
Doctor Luque, who is said to be a veteran in Neurosurgery in Argentina, pointed out details about Maradona’s decisions to pursue his recovery from home.
Dr Luque added: "He was discharged after surgery. The ideal thing would have been for him to undergo rehabilitation, but he did not want to. We managed to get a nurse to accompany him, but he had the medical discharge.
"We tried to keep him in the clinic, but it is not a rehab centre. I extended the hospitalisation as long as I could.
"I am at the disposal of the justice department. With Diego, I did the best I could. I am proud of what I did. I have nothing to hide."
Maradona’s lawyer, Matias Morla, was suspicious about the wait of more than half an hour for an ambulance and demanded for a full investigation into Maradona’s death.
