Glik disappointed not to face Ronaldo in the 1-1 draw against Juve

Kamil Glik is savoring Benevento's 1-1 draw with Juventus, yet is 'disappointed' Cristiano Ronaldo didn't take part in the match.

Alvaro Morata's opener was answered by the defender Gaetano Letizia's volley, while the two goalkeepers needed to make many difficult saves.

“We were up against a great team, Juventus have so much quality, but we put in a great performance,” Glik told Sky Sport Italia.

“We created as many scoring opportunities as they did, we held out well at the back, so it’s a point to be appreciated.

“This sort of approach isn’t just the one we need against Juve, but every week, as we are newly-promoted, and I feel with this attitude and determination, we’ll secure our

Serie A

safety.”

Glik is back in Serie A after 4 years in France playing and Monaco, however, he has a long history against Juventus because of his status as a

Torino

savior.

“I would be lying if I said this wasn’t a special game for me, as I spent five wonderful years at Toro. It means a lot to me, it is in my heart, but I play for Benevento now and the most important motivation was to get the points.”

Juventus

rested Ronaldo, so was Glik eased to learn CR7 wouldn't make the outing to the Stadio Vigorito?

“I was actually disappointed Ronaldo wasn’t playing, as I love to challenge myself against the most important players in the world. I know him well, we both love a challenge.”
