Moyes: People are waiting to try and break into the team

There has been a competition in West Ham for different places, as the club are preparing to play against Aston Villa.

West Ham

manager

David Moyes

says that there is a competition for different positions at the club.

West Ham are eighth in the

Premier League

table and are going to face

Aston Villa

on Monday. They would move ahead of Villa if they win the game.

Although

Michail Antonio

was not able to be with the team for more than a month, Sebastien Haller has replaced him and they have won their last two matches.

“Yes, we want competition for places,” Moyes said. “I think we’ve got that now. We’ve got a few people who are queuing up, waiting to try and break into the team and get into the side.

“So hopefully when they get the opportunity they’ll be ready, but yeah we’ve got good competition at the moment.”

Antonio has scored three times in his first six appearances of the season. Eight different players replaced him and they scored the club’s last eight goals.

“It is good and I’m really pleased with it, I didn’t actually know that stat but I think that it does show that we’re trying to get different people forward and get different people in the box,” Moyes said.

“We’d like our center-forwards to come in with the big numbers because that’s what you need at the end of the season but I have to say I’ll take goals from wherever they come and I’m pleased that everybody’s getting the chance to get a few goals.”

Although Moyes expected to have a difficult game against Liverpool, they won 7-2.

He said: “I watched them against Arsenal and they were really, really good and it shows you how far they’ve come on as a club.

“I think their recruitment’s been excellent over the summer and I think it’s given them a great chance of improving from where they were last year.”
