Barcelona reached an agreement with players to decrease wages that will save €122 million. Yet they are at risk of financial problems.
The club has reported that Barcelona has reached a deal with their squad to cut wages by €122 million over the next three years. However, they would also shell out €50 million per season.
Since La Liga place a lower wage cap on the club last week the Blaugrana was obliged to reduce their expenditure, as they attempt to stave off financial problems caused by the COVID-19.
"Today, the parties have reached an agreement in principle that allows an adjustment to salaries for the current season," the club confirmed Friday in a statement.
"[This is] for an amount of €122 million [in] fixed remuneration, which is added to the deferral for three years of variable remuneration from this season [onward], budgeted at an approximate figure of €50 million.
Barcelona has secured his place in the last 16 in the Champions League, but they have been unable to do the same in their domestic pursuits in La Liga.
