Pique picked the injury during the match against Atletico Madrid, as Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araujo both injured, the only fit senior center-back at the club is Clement Lenglet.
Barcelona center-back has decided to put down Dr. Ramon Cugat’s recommendation to undergo surgery and instead he has opted for conservative treatment, which means he should be out for four months, while the surgery could reduce this period to six to eight weeks.
The news reported by Catalunya Radio was that consultation with the Barcelona medical team made him decide to avoid surgery.
During a visitation by Dr. Cugat on Wednesday, after studying the tests that Pique underwent, he recommended the surgery to stabilize his right knee, especially given that the anterior cruciate ligament rapture was almost total.
Pique who will turn 34 in February, will only have two or three years left playing at the elite. His decision means that he’ll return to action for the Blaugrana in April.
